enation

1. An outgrowth, usually from a leaf. Enations may occur in response to virus infection, e.g. cotton leaf curl virus.
2. A small lateral outgrowth of the stem that  is   produced   by  certain   primitive vascular plants and may be an early stage in *microphyll evolution.
