flavin

Any of a group of yellow plant pigments with an absorption peak around 370 nm that are active in certain plant growth responses to light. Flavins have been implicated in phototropism and are also thought to transfer light energy from blue to red wavelengths so influencing the function of phytochrome. *Riboflavin is an example. See also FAD , FMN.
