haptonasty

A nongrowth *nastic movement in which a plant part moves in response to a tactile stimulus. An example is the rapid and progressive collapse of Mimosa pudica (sensitive plant) leaflets, often throughout the whole plant, after those of one particular branch are touched. See also pulvinus.
