homoeology

Similarity between chromosomes derived from different but related species. Depending on the degree of homoeology, pairing between homoeologous chromosomes may be seen at meiosis in segmental allopolyploids. Such polyploids display meiotic behaviour intermediate between autopolyploids and amphidiploids (see autopolyploidy , allopolyploidy).
