perfoliate

Describing a sessile leaf in which the base of the lamina extends either side of the node and joins together on the far side so the stem is completely encircled. This formation is also seen when pairs of sessile leaves unite at their bases, as in the perfoliate honeysuckle (Lonicera caprifolium).
