A *coenzyme that is tightly bound to the enzyme with which it acts. An example is the biocytin coenzyme of acetyl CoA carboxylase, an enzyme of fatty acid synthesis. The biocytin has a terminal CH(NH2)COOH group, which covalently binds to the protein as part of the peptide.
