seed dressing

A chemical apphed to seeds to protect them against fungal diseases or insect attack. The chemicals are applied in dusts, slurries, or concentrated solutions. Treated seed is toxic and must be distinguishable from untreated seed to prevent it being used for feed. See also organomercurial fungicide , quinone fungicide.
