Sudan stains

Any of various temporary aniline stains used to colour fats and waxes. Examples are Sudan IV, Sudan blue, and Sudan black. They are used to stain cutinized and suberized tissues. Thus the Casparian band readily turns orange on staining with Sudan III or Sudan IV.
