Ulotrichales

An order of the *Chlorophyceae containing simple unbranching filamentous algae (e.g. Ulothrix). Each cell of the filament contains one bandlike chloroplast around its periphery and cell division is in one direction only. Asexual reproduction is by zoospores of various kinds while sexual reproduction varies from isogamy to the well developed oogamy seen in Cylindrocapsa. See also Ulvales.
