wet rot

A plant disease in which there is disintegration of tissues and release of cell fluids. Brown rot of stored fruits, such as plums and apples, is caused by fungi of the genus Sclerotinia. Wet rot of structural timber is caused by various fungi including Coniophora puteana and Poria vaillantii.
