zygomycotina

A subdivision of the *Eumycota containing fungi with a mycelial thallus, characteristically with aseptate hyphae. It contains about 620 species in some 115 genera. Its members do not produce motile cells and asexual reproduction is by nonmotile aplanospores. Sexual reproduction leads to the formation of a resting spore (*zygospore ). The Zygomycotina contains the two classes *Zygomycetes and Trichomycetes.
