Embryophyta

(Embryobionta) In certain classifications, one of two subking-doms of plants (the other being the *Thallophyta). It contains the bryophytes and vascular plants. These plants are grouped together because they all have an embryonic stage that is dependent on the parent plant for a greater or lesser period. This is generally not seen in the Thallophyta, though a situation approaching it is found in some red algae.
