red/far-red effects

Those physiological responses exhibited by many plants as a result of being illuminated by either *red or *far-red light . Usually a period of red light will reverse the effect of a period of far-red light and vice versa. Thus the response elicited in the plant depends on which treatment was given most recently. See phytochrome.
